Tauja Catchings (Class of 1996) set the all-time record for career points (2, 001), rebounds and steals while leading the Patriots to back-to-back state championships in 1995 and 1996. High school honors include being named a 1996 Nike and Parade All-American, member of the All-USA Today team, Chicago Sun Times Player of the Year, Illinois Miss Basketball and the 1996 Gatorade State High School Player of the Year..
She attended the University of Illinois in Champaign Urbana where she pursued a degree in speech communications. Following a career as a professional player in the WNBA, France, and Sweden, she returned to the Indianapolis area where she now serves as the vice-president of the Catch the Star Foundation, a charitable foundation created to make a difference in the lives of future youth.
