Megan Bozek (Class of 2009) was a softball and ice hockey athlete during her time at Stevenson High School. She played for Team Illinois in 2004-07, advancing to the USA Hockey Girls’ National Championships in each year. In 2009, she was a member of the gold medal United States Hockey Under-18 Team and earned 2009 AHAI All-State Hockey Team honors. She continued her playing career at the University of Minnesota where she earned honors on the All-Rookie Team, the All-WCHA Team, WCHA Tournament Team, and the All-WCHA Academic Team. She was the 2011-12 Minnesota Golden Gophers Female Athlete of the Year, the same year she was chosen as a Division I All-American and the WCHA Defensive Player of the Year. The Gophers also captured the NCAA National Championship in 2013. As a member of the U.S. Olympic Women’s Team, she played in four International Ice Hockey Federation Women’s World Championships (2012, 2013, 2016, 2017) and seven Four Nations Cups (2012-2018) and was part of the silver medal team in the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. She signed with the Buffalo Beuts of the National Women’s Hockey League in 2015 and was recognized as the league’s Best Defender in 2017.
