Bob Mackey is a 1970 graduate of Barrington High School, Bob played both baseball and football for the Broncos. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Southern Illinois University in 1974 and a Master’s degree in Counselor Education from Northern Illinois University in 1987.
He taught at Stevenson High School from 1976-2007, where he served as Head Baseball Coach and Assistant Football Coach. During his tenure as Head Baseball Coach, his teams compiled an overall record of 681 wins and 312 losses. Those 681 wins rank him #22 in total wins in IHSA baseball history and are the most wins for a Stevenson Baseball Coach. His Patriot teams enjoyed 22 seasons of 20 or more victories and have notched 9 North Suburban Conference Championships and 7 Regional titles and 1 Sectional title. In addition, Bob’s teams made 5 appearances in the IHSBCA summer state baseball finals, winning a State Championship in 1995.
In 1997, he was inducted into the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame and was involved with the IHSCBA All-State Team Board, the Sun-Times Baseball Coaches Board, the ABCA National Convention Clinic Committee and Stevenson’s Early Intervention Team.
